General
Summary:
Underwrites business generated by Producers while servicing existing accounts and generating new business. Manages underwriting authority and/or program relationships, and manages underwriting and processing unit to comply with program and company standards.
Essential Functions:
o Sets underwriting strategy and clarifies course of action to senior management.
o Maintains production, loss ratio and servicing standards prescribed by underwriting authority contracts and corporate standards.
o Reviews new and renewal submissions for guideline acceptability.
o Underwrites, rates risks, and communicates quotes to Producers, securing the best terms and conditions for accounts.
o Responsible for production of new business and maintaining and servicing renewals.
o Reviews policy for correct information and proper coverage.
o Responsible for policy issuance, policy changes and endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements.
o Must be familiar with state laws for the states in which business is written to ensure proper handling of surplus line taxes in a timely manner.
o Responsible for training, coaching and development of underwriting staff.
o Responsible for regular and ad hoc reports to Underwriting or program authorities and corporate staff.
Qualifications:
o Minimum 10 years of insurance related experience.
o Experience with Forestry/automotive P&C underwriting a plus.
o Excellent written and oral communication skills.
o Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
o Strong analytical and judgment skills; excellent problem solving ability.
o College degree, preferably in insurance or business administration / Insurance designations.
o Experience supervising and developing staff.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
